Drama Therapy

Drama therapy is the use of drama for therapeutic reasons. As a result of drama, play and games the child can get in touch with his/her issues and explore them in a safe and contained manner. Drama therapy can help children in a number of ways. It helps them to externalise the pain that they might be facing in their daily life, and at the same time offer them strategies of how to cope with this. It can help them acquire social skills, and develop interpersonal skills. Drama therapy can also be used to help children to work on their behaviour. Sessions, generally lasting an hour, can be done on a one-to-one basis, or within a group.
